Director of Payroll Services
In accordance with the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources’ Separation policy, salary payments for unused annual leave not to exceed 30 days (240 hours) are made to terminating employees based on the employee's current salary rate.
I. EPA Non-Faculty Leave Payout
Payments for unused annual leave are determined by converting the employee's annual salary to an hourly rate and then multiplying the hourly rate by the employee's number of unused annual leave hours which are provided on the termination action.
II. EPA Faculty Leave Payout
Payments for unused annual leave for 12-month EPA faculty are determined by dividing the employee's annual salary by 2,080 to determine an hourly salary. The hourly salary times the number of hours provided through the employee's termination record is recorded in ConnectCarolina’s HR/Payroll module.
III. SPA Leave Payout
Payments for unused annual leave for an SPA staff employee are determined by converting the employee's annual salary to an hourly rate and then multiplying this amount by the unused annual leave hours shown in the ConnectCarolina HR/Payroll module.
